Best Calorie Burning Exercises for Summer
So, summer is finally here and, as always, the seasonal blues of the colder months have been banished by rays of sunshine and a wave of hot weather. In the months leading up to summer though, you may have dedicated some if not all of your free time to burning up those calories and achieving the figure you’ve longed after for so long.
Unfortunately, we can be lured outside to bathe in the sun during these warmer months, which means we may not have dropped as many pounds as we would have liked. If this is the case, don’t fret, as there is still time to blow your goal out of the water before the season ends.
Of course, to do so, you will need the correct diet and supplements if you are keen on using them and the best possible workout regime.
A Dip In The Pool
Even if you don’t have the luxury of having your own pool in the back garden, leisure centres are proud to cut the ribbon and beckon red-faced passers-by and swimming enthusiasts to use their outdoor pools. In fact, swimming is one of the best exercises to try during summer, as it cools you down whilst burning, on average, 840 calories an hour for men and 720 for the ladies.
Plus, it makes for a lovely day out, whether you take a dip in the pool on your own or with your friends and family!
Go For A Run
Of course, running is another exercise strongly recommended for those looking to drop the pounds. This isn’t to forget the health benefits associated with running too, which include a reduction in stress and alleviation of symptoms of depression, so it really is a win-win.
Performing this exercise in the summer though, you need to make sure you keep yourself hydrated and try to stick to shaded areas to avoid overheating, which will also make for a much more pleasant experience too.
Try Your Hand At Yoga
Yoga, and, in particular, Ashtanga, is a fantastic way to practice and increase flexibility, as well as burn calories, especially when performed in the heat.
Like running, you need to keep yourself properly hydrated, but the consistent actions of Ashtanga yoga are all you need to burn up calories fast, in a relatively short amount of time. This makes it the ideal exercise for those with busy schedules who just need a little me-time.
Ride the Waves
Although England isn’t renowned for its surfing spots in comparison to other locations around the world, it can still offer just enough wave for those who want to try their hand at this incredible sport.
A major benefit, on top of it being refreshing and lots of fun, is that you work your whole body whilst surfing, making it perfect for those who want to improve strength, as well as balance.
Explore the Mountains
If, however, you aren’t too keen on running for an hour, hiking is just as great and is an exercise that can be enjoyed in company or alone with headphones in, if you’d prefer.
Plus, unlike surfing and Ashtanga Yoga, you don’t need any equipment, like a board or mat; all you need is a mountainous terrain to challenge yourself! There are plenty of beautiful spots around the UK too, all of which are just waiting to be explored.
